Adam Valen Levinson | HuffPost

Adam Valen Levinson is an American writer and the creator/host of the new travel series "FEAR/LESS." His first book, The Abu Dhabi Bar Mitzvah (W.W. Norton), is set to be published in 2017. As a PhD student at Yale, Adam studies ways to explore society and cultural gaps without relying on old-school categories (race, nationality, gender). His main focus is senses of humor, and what "what people find funny" tells us about people and the groups they're part of. He has reported and from Afghanistan to Somalia for Al Jazeera, Haaretz, VICE, and more, and worked for The Onion and The Colbert Report. His photography has appeared in publications and museums around the world, with a focus on daily life, people, and cross-cultural interaction in the Middle East. He can occasionally be spotted on scripted television by those who scour TLC, Investigation Discovery, and the archives of Comedy Central. Adam speaks half-decent Arabic and three-quarters decent French. He is Vice President of the educational consultancy Elite College Link, based in Shanghai, and is the proud owner of a black ukelele.
